How "Navidad" is Celebrated in Spain

Christmas is one of the very many celebrations around the world that is hugely impacted by a nation's culture and beliefs, and Spain is no exception. Much like everywhere else christmas also known as "Navidad" is celebrated on the 24th of December in Spain however our traditions alter significantly from surrounding countries like France or Portugal. One of our most popular attractions in christmas is "La cavalgata de los Tres Reyes Magos" which is when three men dressed up as the three wise parade around the cities of Spain rewarding the children that came to see them with delicious sweets and colourful confetti. Another one of our most notorious traditions stems from our country's catholic background which is when a "Belén" is set up as an iteration of the Nativity. It is through this "Belén" were spaniards are able to pay their respects to Baby Jesus on the day he was born. Another tradition that has recently gained lots of traction in Spain are special holiday markets that are set up in our "plazas" as an attempt to enjoy delicious festive food and connect with family and other loved ones. Lastly, another tradition that has become infamous in Spain is "El Caga Tío" which is a cartoonish wooden log that is decorated in winter clothing to which spanish children sing to in hopes of being rewarded with sweets. This tradition's roots can be traced back to a certain part of Spain such as Catalonia and Aragon.
